In this time of COVID19, all non-profits are having a tough time with fund raising, the Evansville Grove Society included.  However, the Grove Society has been given a unique fundraising opportunity by Wisconsin author Robert J. Moore.  He has donated a limited number of copies of his book on The Civilian Conservation Corps in Rock County Wisconsin.  This 190 page book covers the 1933 camp located at the fairgrounds in Evansville and its activities.  This is his 4th book on the CCC and he is recognized as a well-respected researcher on the subject.

Robert J. Moore is a former high school American History teacher, who once taught in Verona, Wisconsin.  Prior to his retirement he was named American History Teacher of the Year by the Arizona chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).  Mr. Moore also served for eight seasons as an interpretive specialist/historian for the U.S. Forest Service in Arizona.  His research there dealing with the CCC resulted in his first book, The Civilian Conservation Corps in Arizona’s Rim Country.

Since relocating to Wisconsin, Mr. Moore has continued to research CCC history in the Midwest. His second book is Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin and the Civilian Conservation Corps.  He followed that in 2018 with The Civilian Conservation Corps in Mount Horeb, WI.  He has also written articles about the work of the CCC for the Wisconsin Magazine of History and the Illinois State Historical Society Journal.

The book isoffered at retail for $14.00 (current Evansville Grove Society Members can purchase it for $11.00) plus a $2 shipping fee.  Prepaid, no-contact, pick up at the Grove Society Museum at 15 Antes Drive in Evansville can also be arranged.  All sales proceeds go to the Evansville Grove Society.  To print the order form at the left, just right click on the form and select "Save Image to" to save to your documents folder then print as you usually do.

The Grove Society and the Fulton General Store will be the only locations to purchase this book for a period of time.  This book would make an excellent gift idea for historians or genealogists.
