History takes a community….
It takes a community to operate a first class historical society. The Grove Society has been recognized for its excellence by the Wisconsin Historical Society, and wants to continue the tradition of exceptional work.
That’s why area residents of Evansville are encouraged and invited to become a member now, or renew membership now, with The Grove Society. Membership fees are slight, at just $15 for individuals and $20 for families per year. Yet that nominal dollar amount, when combined with fees from all members, becomes a hard-working and important resource for The Grove Society. Without any extra effort from you, your membership fee supports special programming and operating expenses for the historic Baker Building, which serves as a local museum, visitor center and office space.
It’s easy to locate a membership form. See details at the end of this article!
You also are encouraged and invited to attend Grove Society events. The Society is co-sponsoring events and programs with Eager Free Public Library, The Heights, and Creekside Place to expand its service area. Do come and explore with us how to become more involved with programming within the Evansville School system and Evansville community. Your suggestions will be welcome.
A regularly occurring event is the monthly meeting of the Genealogy Group. This intriguing group meets the first Thursday of the month at Creekside Place, beginning at 6 p.m.
Want to make a difference? Become a volunteer! Please tell us what you like to do and there is sure to be a role to fit your special talents and interests. Here is just a sample: photography, museum collections, hospitality, maintenance of the building, programming, landscaping, membership, fundraising, historic preservation and financial management.
As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. Together, we will build an even stronger, more vibrant historical society that will add to your sense of pride in Evansville and its accomplishments.
