GENEALOGY GROUP
The Grove Society Genealogy Group is for people interested in learning more about genealogy: the study of families, family history, and the tracing of their lineages. Genealogists use oral interviews, historical records, genetic analysis, and other records to obtain information about a family and to demonstrate kinship and pedigrees of its members.
The Group meets on the third Thursday of each month at Creekside Place from 12pm-2pm for workshops or instructional speakers.
If you would like to add your name to the Group’s email list or if you desire additional information about the Group, please contact the facilitator at [email protected].
Below are several handouts offering tips and guidelines for people wishing to get started in genealogy. They were made available by Troy Reeves, then head of the Oral History Program at U.W. Madison, for an event on “Collecting Oral Histories.”
